Rodents in a food warehouse

Rodent activity in a food warehouse is two problems at once. There is the population itself, and there is the paperwork that a customer, an auditor or a franchisor will ask for, and a programme that solves the first while ignoring the second still fails the audit.

The work starts by establishing how rodents are entering and where they are travelling, which in a large store is usually along the wall lines, behind racking and around the service penetrations rather than across the open floor. Stations go where the evidence is, not at even spacing around the perimeter, which is the arrangement that looks tidy on a plan and catches nothing.

Every station is mapped and numbered, every visit is recorded, and activity is logged station by station so a trend is visible rather than a single snapshot. That record is what an auditor actually asks to see.

Housekeeping is part of the specification, not a lecture attached to it. Where product is stored against a wall or spillage sits under racking, the programme says so in writing, because those are the conditions that decide whether the treatment holds.
