Overview

Spraying a visible ant trail feels productive, but the colony that produced it, often thousands of workers and multiple queens, remains untouched and simply reroutes. That is why ants keep coming back after supermarket sprays.

We work at colony level. Slow acting gel and granular baits are placed on active trails so foragers carry the treatment back to the nest, while residual barriers at entry points stop new trails from establishing. Different ant species need different baits, so identifying the species correctly is part of the job.

How the treatment works

Species identification

Sugar feeders, protein feeders and pharaoh ants respond to different baits. We identify the species first so the bait actually gets carried home.

Bait placement

Gel and granular baits are placed directly on active trails and near nest sites, indoors and out.

Barrier treatment

Residual application along entry points, thresholds and external walls prevents new trails while the baits collapse the colony.

Safety measures

Baits are placed in cracks, voids and station holders out of reach of children and pets. Kitchen surfaces are never treated directly; we work along skirting, voids and entry points and advise a short drying window before rooms are used normally.

Before your treatment

Wipe down worktops and clear food scraps so baits are the most attractive food source
Note where trails are most active at different times of day
Avoid spraying ants yourself in the days before treatment, which scatters colonies

After your treatment

Leave visible ants alone for the first week; they are carrying bait to the nest
Do not clean bait placement points until advised
Store sugar, honey and pet food in sealed containers
Seal obvious cracks and crevices once activity stops

Ant Control FAQs

Why are there more ants right after treatment?

Baits deliberately attract foragers so they carry the active ingredient back to the colony. A short surge in visible activity in the first days is a sign the programme is working.

How long until the ants are gone?

Most trails collapse within one to two weeks as the bait reaches the queens. Large or multi-queen colonies can take a little longer, which is why we include a follow-up check on persistent cases.
