Fly Control

Sanitation-led fly programmes with baiting, residual treatment and light trap placement for kitchens and food businesses.

Overview

Flies are a hygiene problem before they are a nuisance. House flies move between waste and food constantly, and in a food business a visible fly problem is the fastest way to lose customer confidence and fail an audit.

Control starts with the breeding source: waste handling, drains and organic build-up. On top of that foundation we apply fly baits and residual treatments to resting surfaces, and position insect light traps where they intercept flies without being visible from customer areas. Drain flies and fruit flies get their own targeted treatments because their breeding sites are different.

Signs you may need this service

  • Persistent flies around bins, drains and prep areas
  • Small dark spots on walls and light fittings where flies rest
  • Fruit flies hovering over drains, bottle stores and ripe produce
  • Maggots in or around waste storage areas

How the treatment works

1

Source correction

We identify where flies are breeding, usually waste, drains or organic build-up, and give you specific corrections, because no treatment outruns an active breeding site.

2

Baits and residuals

Granular baits and residual sprays are applied to resting and congregation surfaces, cutting the adult population continuously.

3

Light trap strategy

Insect light traps are positioned at the right height and away from competing light sources, then serviced regularly so they keep catching.

Safety measures

Treatments in food premises follow food safety rules: applications happen away from open food, light traps use shatter-resistant tubes, and everything is documented for your audit file.

Before your treatment

  • Empty and clean waste bins before the visit
  • Clear access to drains and waste storage areas
  • Cover or store open food in treatment zones

After your treatment

  • Keep bin lids closed and waste collection frequent
  • Flush and brush drains weekly to remove breeding film
  • Replace light trap tubes annually for full catch performance
  • Report hotspots between visits so placements can be adjusted
Questions

Fly Control FAQs

Because the breeding source is still active. Sprays kill adults, but eggs and larvae in drains or waste mature within days. Our programme treats the source as well as the adults.
Between the entry point and the food area, mounted at the right height, away from windows and competing lights, and never directly above food surfaces. Placement matters as much as the unit itself.
