Apartment towers behave differently from houses

In a Colombo apartment block the service ducts and the risers are a shared corridor. Cockroaches move between units through them, so a flat treated on its own is reinfested from the flat above or below within weeks, and the resident who paid for the treatment concludes that pest control does not work.

Where that is the picture we say so and the useful conversation is with the management council, not the individual owner. A common-area programme with the units treated together costs each household less than treating one flat three times.

Restaurant strips and the audit trail

Colombo has the highest density of inspected kitchens in the country, and for those clients the documentation is half the job. Service records, product detail and station maps are produced in a form an auditor or a franchisor will accept, because a programme that cannot evidence itself has failed the audit however few insects there are.

Kitchen work is scheduled outside covers. Gel baiting into hinge cavities, motor housings and the voids under coving does the work, and very little goes onto the surfaces food is prepared on.

Heritage timber and new construction

The older housing stock inside the city carries timber that is worth protecting properly, and the new construction going up beside it is the cheapest moment in a building life to install a barrier. Both are termite work and both are assessed before anything is planned.
