A rice mill saves a rejected export consignment
A grain buyer rejected a 120-tonne consignment after finding live weevils during pre-shipment checks. The miller had ten days before the shipping window closed.
Our fumigation team assessed the warehouse and stack the day after the call. The consignment was sealed under gas-proof sheeting and fumigated at quarantine dosage, with gas concentrations monitored throughout the exposure period to confirm lethal levels were held.
After ventilation and instrument-verified clearance, we issued fumigation certificates meeting the destination country’s phytosanitary requirements. The consignment passed re-inspection and shipped inside the original window.
The mill moved its long-term storage onto a scheduled monitoring and fumigation programme, and has since shipped every consignment without a pest-related rejection.
