Bedbugs are a floor problem, not a room problem

A guest house on the beach road turns rooms over constantly, and bedbugs travel in luggage and on housekeeping trolleys. By the time one guest complains, the insects have usually had the chance to reach the rooms either side and the one above.

So we scope the rooms around the reported one as a matter of course, and the linen route with them. Treating only the room that generated the complaint is the single most common reason a property here ends up treating the same problem twice.

Flies and the fish trade

Drying and handling fish draws flies on a scale inland towns do not see, and no number of traps out-competes an open breeding source. Fly work here starts with where the waste goes and how quickly, then exclusion, then trapping. Units sited over a food counter pull insects towards the food rather than away from it, so placement is a design decision.

What the salt air does

Corrosion works steadily on screens, hinges and door seals, and once those have gone the building has lost the barrier that was doing most of the work. A fair share of what gets reported here as a treatment failure turns out to be an opening nobody had noticed, and when that is the finding we put it in the report instead of selling you another visit.
