The vessel sets the schedule

Port work runs backwards from the ship. Sealing, exposure and ventilation together take more than a working day, and the consignment still has to reach the terminal afterwards, so the only useful first question is what your cut-off is.

Where there is not enough time to do the work properly we say so rather than running a short exposure. A treatment that did not reach lethal concentration is worse than no treatment, because it comes with paperwork suggesting the cargo is clear.

Containers, packaging and dunnage

Industrial and hospitality work inland

Beyond the port the district has the usual industrial stores, hotels and commercial kitchens, covered by the same crews. Warehouse and transit store treatment is the larger part of it, and it is planned around your operating hours.

Away from the harbour

Inland the district is agricultural, and the stored crop work follows the same pattern as the rest of the dry zone: insects breeding inside the commodity while the outside of the stack looks clean. Smaller stores are grouped into a single run where the dates allow it, which keeps the travel off a job that would otherwise carry a long drive.

What the port work involves in practice

Most of it is containers and the timber packing inside them. A consignment is sealed, held for a set period and then cleared before anyone handles it, and the whole sequence is booked against the vessel rather than the calendar. Where a buyer has asked for something specific in writing, that requirement needs to reach us before the job is booked rather than after.

Outside the port the pattern is ordinary commercial work: stores, hotels and the housing around them, scheduled into the same trips.
